Jamaat Ahmadiyya al Mouslemeen Friday Sermon of Hazrat Amirul Momeneen Zafrullah Domun 26 June 2009 At
Bait-ul-Rahma Mosque After reciting the Tashahhud, the Ta’uz and the first chapter Al Fatiha of the Holy Quran, Hazrat Amirul Mo’emenine, Zafrullah Domun said: Today I intend to talk to you about verses 19 to 30 of chapter 13 of the Holy Quran. I have not chosen these verses because of any particular personal motive. My intention is only to explain a few verses of the Holy Quran to our members and also to those who may read this sermon about what Allah has said about those people who respond to Him or to His call whenever he makes one. But as usual some verses of the Holy Quran are more relevant to some particular situation that may prevail in a group or in a society and recalling them helps those who may have forgotten their messages. Hence that is why I am speaking about these particular verses today. I will take this opportunity to tell all our members especially the young ones that they should make it a duty even to read only one ruku of the Holy Quran daily. I know that most of you spend some time on the internet these days to talk to your friends. In the same way I request and advise to spare some time to read the message that Your Real Friend that is Allah has sent you through His Prophet Mohammad Mustaphasaw. If you do not read the Holy Quran you will have a wasted life whatever your material achievements might be. A real Ahmadi is he who regularly reads the Holy Quran and tries to understand its meanings. A real Ahmadi is not someone who reads the Holy Quran only in the month of Ramadhan. According to Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as, we should honour the Holy Quran if we want to be honored. Therefore we should strive to understand what it says and do our best to live its teachings in our daily lives. I hope that each Ahmadi will make it a duty to learn for himself what the Holy Quran says and he or she will not be able to do this unless he makes it a habit to read and reflect on some portion of the book everyday. May Allah give each one of us to do so incha Allah. So the first verse reads as follows: For those who respond to their Lord is eternal good; and as for those who respond not to Him, if they had all that is in the earth and the like of it added thereto, they would readily ransom themselves therewith. It is these that shall have an evil reckoning, and their abode is Hell. What a wretched place of rest! In this verse we see that Allah is explaining what will be the end of those people who respond to Him and those who reject Him. Those who respond to Allah will get “al husna” which means “that which is good”. But those who do not respond to Allah for them the situation will be terrible, their reckoning will be really bad. It will be so bad that were they to have all that is on earth and the like of it added to it they would readily ransom themselves therewith. Now just imagine this situation. If someone has some possessions in this earth he thinks that he is rich. But Allah says on the day of reckoning those who did not listen to him would even offer the whole earth together with another one similar to it if they could to avert Allah’s punishment. If you read this verse and pass over it quickly you will not understand the extent of its message. But if you pause and reflect then you will understand what Allah is telling us through this verse. Allah says unfortunately for those people who do not respond to Him, they will have a very bad reckoning and they will have hell as an evil resting place. Now we may ask the question what it means to respond to Allah. The next verse answers this question. Allah says: Is he, then, who knows that what has been revealed to thee from thy Lord is the truth, like one who is blind? But only those gifted with understanding will reflect: Allah is confirming that only those who are “people of understanding” who understand what the prophet was telling them. Those who are “blind” meaning those who do not have the necessary understanding do not have the capacity to understand that the message of the prophet is true and hence they reject him. But who are these “people of understanding.” They are not those who have degrees from universities or who are considered of a certain standing in worldly matters. They are Those who fulfill Allah’s pact, and break not the covenant; That is to say once they have made a pact with Allah they do not
break it. For example an Ahmadi is someone who has made a pact with Allah.
Once such a pact is made it cannot be broken. If Hazrat Masih has said
that as from now on people will be raised by Allah in his Jamaat, such an
advice has to be heeded and once there are claims by individuals they need
to be investigated. Moreover the promises that we made when making the
oath of allegiance has also to be upheld. As far as the “mithaaq”
this is translated as “covenant” is concerned, I think that it refers to
verse 82 of chapter 3, Al Imran of the Holy Quran where Allah
says: And remember the time when Allah took a covenant from the people through the Prophets, saying: ‘Whatever I give you of the Book and Wisdom and then there comes to you a Messenger, fulfilling that which is with you, you shall believe in him and help him.’ And He said: ‘Do you agree, and do you accept the responsibility which I lay upon you in this matter?’ They said, ‘We agree;’ He said, ‘Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses.’ [3:82] People of all times are bound through this verse to respond to those who say they come from Allah to teach the people what they have forgotten of their prophet’s teachings. Allah continues with explaining who those people of understanding are. Allah continues describing the qualities of these people. And those who join what Allah has commanded to be joined, and fear their Lord, and dread the evil reckoning; And those who persevere in seeking the favour of their Lord, and observe Prayer, and spend out of that with which We have provided them, secretly and openly, and repel evil with good. It is these who shall have the best reward of the final Abode — Here we may ask what is it that Allah has ordained that they should be joined. From other verses of the Holy Quran, we understand that these are particularly ties of kinship. For example such ties that exist between a man and his wife, between sisters and brothers, between father and sons between Muslims also. Allah wants all of us to live peaceably together and to avoid discriminating between Muslims. For such people the reward will be Gardens of Eternity. They shall enter them and also those who are righteous from among their fathers, and their wives and their children. And angels shall enter unto them from every gate, saying: Salaamoun Alaikoum fa ne’ma ouqbad daar ‘Peace be unto you, because you were steadfast; behold how excellent is the reward of the final Abode!’” This is what Allah has promised those respond to His call and are characterized by the qualities he has just mentioned. As a consolation and as a glad tiding to members of Jamaat Ahamdiyya Al Mouslemeen who are with me, recently Allah said to me “ Salaamoune alaika wa manit taba’aka minal mou’menine” which may be translated as: “ Peace be upon you and upon those who follow you among the believers” And those who break the covenant of Allah, after having established it and cut asunder what Allah has commanded to be joined, and act corruptly in the earth — on them is the curse and they shall have a grievous abode. Allah
enlarges His provision for whomsoever He
pleases and straitens it for whomsoever He pleases. And they
rejoice in the present life, while the present life is but
a temporary enjoyment as compared with that which is to
come. And those who disbelieve say, ‘Why is not a
Sign sent down to him from his Lord?’ Say, ‘Allah lets go astray those
whom He wills and guides to Himself those who
turn to Him ‘Those who believe, and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of Allah. Aye! it is in the remembrance of Allah that hearts can find comfort; ‘Those who believe and do good works — happiness shall be theirs, and an excellent place of return.’(13:19-30) |
