After reciting the Tashahhud, the Ta’uz and the first chapter Al Fatiha Imam Zafrullah Domun said:

Last week the caliph of the mainstream Jamaat Ahmadiyya, in his Friday sermon said among other things

“Those who say that there was no need for a Messiah to come are increasing in their spiritual ailments but they are not prepared to acknowledge the Imam of the age who is sent by God and they do not accept him. Is all this enmity, suicide bombings, terrorism the teaching of Islam? Is oppression in the name of God and religion the teaching of Islam? Most certainly it is not. These people have declined to understand the teaching of Islam due to their unawareness or obstinacy and are committing all these acts to please their ‘temporary lords’ whereas the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) calls people to the One and Only Lord by virtue of that teaching which was revealed to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).On one hand they proclaim that a reformer is required and there is need for Khilafat and on the other hand they are not prepared to accept the healer whom God sent.

Hadhrat Musleh Maud (may Allah be pleased with him) explained two meanings for [the final of the three verses recited at the start], And Who designs and guides. Since God put a great potential for progress in man, He also provided means to realize it. Firstly, He created man according to the teaching and then He sent His teaching. Secondly, when man deviated God sent guidance in accordance to the need of the time. The perfect teaching that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) brought ensured that dues of God as well as dues of mankind were paid. Now that the guidance has come, a believer should abide by it and if anything is not clear then one should turn to the ‘healer’ who has been sent with the healing and should turn to God with sincerity asking for His guidance. It is also an obligation to do Tasbih of God and take His message to others and this is a sign of a believer who is free of any irregularity.

Hudhur prayed that may God enable us to turn with sincerity to the one whom He has sent and to put God’s teaching in practice, to do His Tasbih in a correct manner, worship Him and take His message to others.” (http://www.alislam.org/archives/friday/FSS20100514-EN.html)

The caliph was commenting upon verses of the Holy Quran in Sura Al Aa’la where it is said “He determines and guides”. Now we may ask a question whether we have any objection with what he had said. Of course not! We have none. But we should take this argument to its logical conclusion. Did Hazrat Masih Maoodas limit the number of guides who were to come and said that as from now on only my children and grand children will be the guides for you. But we all know that he was a wise and broadminded person and he was divinely guided and he could not utter such preposterous ideas. What in fact he said is very clear from the book Alwassiyyat which he wrote almost three years prior to his death. What did he say? He said

“Let the righteous persons of the Jama‘at who have pure souls accept Bai‘at in my name. God Almighty desires to draw all those who live in various habitations of the world, be it Europe or Asia, and who have virtuous nature, to the Unity of God and unite His servants under one Faith. This indeed is the purpose of God for which I have been sent to the world. You, too, therefore should pursue this end, but with kindness, moral probity and fervent prayers. And till that time when someone inspired by God with the Holy Spirit is raised by Him, all of you should work in harmony with one another.”(P 8-9).

In fact Hazrat Masih wanted all his followers to work in close cooperation with one another. He would never have wished that there should have been any type of splits within the Jamaat. But that was exactly what happened barely six years after his death. So from the above extract and many other extracts that we have previously quoted in our writings and speeches we have conclusively proved that within Jamaat Ahmadiyya there is a promise that Allah will from time to time raise some people with the Holy Spirit (ruhoul qudus). These people will have as their task to keep the Jamaat on track. Today members of the Jamaat and its olamas (if there are any) seem to make the ignorant masses believe that system of khilafat prevailing within the Jamaat is the system that members should accept and adhere to. But we argue that in the light of the teachings of the Holy Quran and the writings of Hazrat Masih Maood as khilafat has failed in preserving Jamaat’s true teachings and recent caliphs have been making some illogical and unjust decisions and in many Jamaats injustice is prevalent and unislamic practices are rampant.

If today the caliph is saying that Muslims are increasing in their spiritual ailments, I will say that the same thing is happening with members of Jamaat Ahmadiyya. Everywhere from Canada to Australia from South Africa, passing through Mauritius to Norway there are plenty of spiritual diseases within Jamaat Ahmadiyya which need to be cured by remedies applied by someone appointed by Allah and not by someone whom people think he has been appointed by Allah. What one takes for granted and what is the truth is not the same. In his book the Masnavi Maulana Rumi makes this point clearly through the story of a deaf man who went to visit his friend who was sick. The story is as follows:

A deaf man was told that his neighbor was sick. The deaf man thought that since he was deaf he would not understand anything of what his young sick neighbor would say especially since he was feeble but he was determined to visit him. So he wondered that when he would see his neighbor’s lips move he would make a supposition about what he said. When I will say “how are you?”, he will say “ I am well” or I am not sick. I will then say “Allah be praised! What have you taken? He would reply “pea’s soup”. Then I will say “May you get well quickly! Who is your doctor?” He will reply “so and so”. Then I will say “He is a good fellow. Since he has come most surely you will get well soon. I have experienced how good he is. Wherever he goes he brings what is good!” he thought about these replies and went to see his neighbor.

He asked him “How are you?”

The neighbor replied” I am at the door of death”

The deaf man said “Praise be to Allah”. His sick friend became angry. He thought what thanks are these. He is my enemy. The deaf man had made a guess and as we see it was not true.

Then he asked him what he has taken. The sick neighbor replied “poison”. The deaf man said “may it be good for you and make you healthy again” the sick man was becoming angrier.

Then the deaf man asked “Who amongst the doctors come to look after you?” The neighbor replied “the angel of death. Go away”

The deaf man said “his coming is good. Be happy!” The deaf man said “Praise be to Allah. Now I will leave”

The sick neighbor wondered “this one is my mortal enemy; I never knew he was as perverse.”

The sick man could not hold his anger. He wanted to insult his deaf neighbor. In fact the visit which was supposed to bring consolation and comfort had the opposite effect. Then Maulana Rumi says “Many persons accomplish plenty acts of worships and expect to be rewarded and to be approved by them. But this is a hidden sin. If you think these acts to be well intentioned, you are mistaken. Their case is like that of the deaf man who thought of showing sympathy but the contrary happened. The deaf man was self satisfied and said “ I have shown my respects and I have done my duty towards my neighbor. But what he succeeded in doing was to create in his neighbor’s heart ill will towards him. So take care of the fire that you have lighted. In fact your sins have increased. To prevent these risks Allah has taught us to pray “Guide us “in all daily prayers. The meaning is “do not mix my prayers with that of the hypocrites those who have gone astray. Because of his reasoning by analogy the deaf man ruined a friendship of ten years. Be careful o my friend concerning reasoning by analogy applied to Revelation which is limitless. If your sensual ear can hear the letters, know that your inner ear which perceive its secret meanings is deaf. ( Mathnavi Book one )

So today within Jamaat Ahmadiyya mainstream some people especially the leaders think that they are doing plenty of good deeds. But unfortunately most are like this deaf man who is not aware of the effects of his words or deeds. Jamaat Ahmadiyya tells others that they should recognize the imam of the age. But as far as it is concerned it makes as if this does not apply to it. It thinks that it has the wherewithal to make reform or to improve the behaviour of the people. But we have witnessed that this Jamaat has shown itself to be totally bereft of moral scruples in trying to inflict pain on its own kind. Hazrat Masih Maood as has advised us:

And you, too, should partake of the Holy Spirit by compassion and by purifying your souls. Because without the Holy Spirit true Taqwa cannot be attained. And, totally shedding all base desires of the self, choose for the sake of winning the pleasure of God that path compared to which no path can be narrower and more strait. Don’t fall in love with the pleasures of the world, for they take you away from God. Choose a life of austerity for the sake of God. The pain which pleases God is better than the pleasure which makes Him angry. And the defeat which pleases God is better than the victory which invites the wrath of Allah. Renounce the love which brings you nearer to the wrath of Allah. If by purifying your hearts you come to Him, He will help you whichever path you tread and no enemy shall ever be able to harm you. You can never ever win the pleasure of Allah unless you, relinquishing your desires, abandoning your pleasures, sacrificing your honour, disowning your wealth, discarding your life, bear such  hardship in His Way as make you suffer the pangs of  death. But once you suffer such hardship, you will sit in the lap of God like a beloved child. And you will be made heirs of the truthful who have preceded you. The door of every blessing will be opened to you. But there are few who belong to this category.”

This is where Hazrat Masih Maoodas wanted to take us. How many amongst the majority can really say that by the Grace of Allah at least they are on the path. This is the path where lives are sacrificed in order to be alive.  Maulana Rumi said about this path “If you give bread you will get bread in return; but if you give life you will get life in return”.  In all humility I can say that by the Grace of Allah we have been shown this path and we want to help our Ahmadi brothers and sisters to tread this path. But the Messiah knew what he was talking about when he said few people are like those he described. Jamaat Ahmdiyya may increase in numbers but that was not its main objective. Its main objective was to create such people who would be an example to others in their moral behaviour. All those who are insiders know that we are very far from our ideal. More incha Allah next time.
