Friday Sermon 25th January 2008 ------------------------------------ - “O thou that has covered thyself with thy cloak, Arise and warn” - The word Modassiro in itself contained a great prophecy. - Allah, in His infinite Mercy has revealed to me the above two verses on Saturday last - You should not behave as those who , in the past forgot their own teachings. - Every one will carry his own burden ; no one will carry the burden of another one. - And until someone stands up with the Holy Spirit (rouhoul quds), you should all cooperate and work together.” - “Do you believe in that which is not true and you reject the signs of Allah and yet you read the book? Why do you not make use of your intellect?” ------------------------------------ After reading the Tashahhud, Ta’ouz and the chapter Al Fateha of the Holy Quran, Hazrat Amiroul Mo’meneen Zafrullah Domun read the following verses of the Holy Quran : Yaa Ayyohal Modassiro Qoum Fa Anzir Then he said: “O thou that has covered thyself with thy cloak, Arise and warn” However, when I have consulted the dictionaries I have seen that the word “Modassiro” has a wider meaning than the one given above. From the English 5 volume commentary of the Holy Quran published by Jamaat Ahmadiyya International we learn the following about the word “Modassiro”. It is derived from the root “da sa ra” which means it (a trace or a mark) became effaced or obliterated. “Tadassara aw iddasara” means, he wrapped himself with a garment. “Dassarahou” means he destroyed or obliterated him or it; he covered him with a warm garment. “Dassarata ta’ir” means the bird adjusted or put in order its nest. “Tadassaroul farsh” means he leapt upon the horse and rode it. “Tadaasaroul adouw” means he vanquished the enemy. These are the meanings that can be found in the dictionaries of Lane and Aqrab. When all these meanings are taken into consideration the following meanings of the word Modassiro comes to light: the effacer or obliterator; the reformer or the one who puts things in order; the vanquisher; the one who is ready to leap upon and ride the horse. Another commentator of the Holy Quran whose name was Mohammad ibn Ali Al Shaukani has said that the word Modassiro has also the meaning of “the one who has been entrusted with the heavy load of the responsibilities of a prophet”. And according to “Ruh ul ma’ani” another commentary of the Holy Quran it is said that the word is applied to someone who has been adorned with the best natural powers and qualities and also with prophetic dignity. You should know that the verses of this chapter and that of chapter Mozamilo were revealed after the first five verses of Chapter 96 Al Alaq. The lapse between these revelations may have been six months or even longer. No one can say for sure. After the initial verses which frightened him, here the Holy Prophet (s.a.w) began receiving specific instructions regarding his Mission and how he should go about it. The word Modassiro in itself contained a great prophecy. If we take each of the meanings that we have given above we can easily notice that they were fulfilled in the course of the remaining years of the Holy Prophet’s life in a spectacular way. For example he obliterated shirk from Arabia completely. He had mortal enemies and he vanquished them all, and his message triumphed. From someone who loved loneliness he was put into full limelight with the heavy responsibilities of his prophet hood. His dignity as a prophet was unparalleled. As a follower of Hazrat Mohammad (saw) and as a follower of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (a.s) I wish to inform all members of our Jamaat and all those who would eventually read this sermon that Allah, in His infinite Mercy has revealed to me the above two verses on Saturday last, that is, on 19th January 2008. In order that you might not be misled I am re-iterating here what Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (a.s) has said about such revelations. He said in his book Buraheen Ahmadiyya on page 488: “One should always remember this point that whatever words of praise which are used in the revelations of a believer, in truth these are praises in favor of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (s.a.w). And the believer will partake of that praise in proportion to his following in the footsteps of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w).” I hope and pray and I request you also to pray for me that until my last breath Allah helps me to walk in the footsteps of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w). Hence once again, I am humbly telling all the members of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Jamaat to take care before it is too late. You are the privileged few among the whole Muslim Umma who accepted Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s) as a prophet subordinate to the Holy Prophet Mohammad (s.a.w). It was Allah’s Favour upon you that He brought you into this Jamaat. It was Allah’s Favour upon you that you saw what others could not see. Therefore it is quite legitimate to expect that you, as those who have been educated in the school of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (a.s), should not behave as those who, in the past forgot their own teachings. Today most members of the Jamaat cannot reason for themselves. They will go along with what the caliph will say. But remember that in front of Allah each one will fare for himself. Did not the Holy Prophet (s.a.w) tell Hazrat Fatima (r.a) that she would not be shown any favorable treatment just because she was his daughter? How can an Ahmadi think that just because the caliph is there he will be leniently dealt with by Allah? In the Holy Quran Allah says in Ch.33 verses: 67-69: “On the day when their faces are turned
into the fire they will At another place in the Holy Quran Allah says: “Even so we never sent any Warner before
thee to any township but the wealthy ones among them said, “We
found our fathers following a certain course and we are following in
their footsteps. From these verses it is crystal clear that usually those who are foremost in their rejection of someone who comes from Allah are usually the rich ones among the people. The excuse that they usually put forward is that they are just following on the path of their fathers. I am personally aware of some Ahmadis who are not well grounded in Ahmadiyya teachings who say “our father told us to stick to khilafat and therefore we cannot leave it”. These are the people who cannot decide for themselves and they have left it to others to choose for them. I have also heard some people say that if the caliph says that these revelations are true they would believe in it. But the verses quoted above condemn such attitude. Every one will carry his own load and no one will be able to carry the load of someone else. There are many verses of the Holy Quran which makes this very clear. Furthermore we can infer that what Allah is giving
now is much better than what the Ahmadis have with themselves. The Ahmadis
have had khilafat for the past hundred years but the door for enjoying
even greater favours from Allah has never been closed on this Jamaat.
Did not Hazrat Ahmad (a.s) tell us : From this extract it is as clear as daybreak that Allah would raise people within the Jamaat who would be graced by the Holy Spirit. If Hazrat Ahmad (a.s) meant that the person in question would necessarily be the caliph of the time, he would have expressed himself otherwise. Therefore I advise you all to read this extract with the due care that it calls for and try to understand what has been said in it. Rarely if at any place you will see this extract quoted in its entirety in Jamaat’s literature. The underlined sentence is rarely quoted as far as I have read. To go back to the verse under discussion, I will say that Ahmadis are being called to something that is better than they have with themselves. Therefore they should try to understand what they are being told and not reply as the verse says: “They said “certainly we disbelieve in that which you are sent with.”” They have already said this and they are quite adamant in their rejection. But as far as I am concerned I will continue to pray that spiritual insight will prevail because Ahmadis do not have any idea of what they would be losing if they persist in their present behavior. May Allah have Mercy upon them. During the week I also received the following revelation: “A’fa bil batelé toumenouna wa be ayaaatillahé takforoune , wa tatlounal kitab. Afalaa ta’qeloune.” Its translation is as follows: “Do you believe in that which is not true and you reject the signs of Allah and yet you read the book? Why do you not make use of your intellect?” In other words Ahmadis are sticking with a false notion of khilafat (the idea that they make of the institution is false not the institution per se). And they are rejecting someone who has come to them from Allah with clear signs and yet they read the Book. If they understood the Book as it should have been understood (if they used their intellect), it would easily dawn upon them that they have false notions about khilafat. In the same vein in a vision I saw “21:51”. I understood it to mean chapter 21 verse 51 of the Holy Quran. And when I checked it out the verse is as follows: “Wa haza zikroun mobarakoun anzalnahou; afa antoum lahou mounkeroune”. It means “and this is a blessed reminder that we have sent; will you then reject it”. We can comment this verse in several ways. Usually commentators say that the word reminder refers to the Holy Quran. If we take that meaning, the meaning would be “the Holy Quran which is the Reminder par excellence is with you, O Ahmadis. You have been given deep knowledge of its meanings through Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s). Despite having such a knowledge will you reject it by ignoring what is in it?” The other meaning would be that whatever revelations I am receiving is a blessed reminder for the Jamaat as a whole. Will the Jamaat reject it by ignoring what I am saying? My task is only to deliver the Message to you. Next week we will continue on the same subject in the
light of other revelations that I have already received incha Allah. Ameen. |
