After reciting the Tashahhud, the Ta’uz and the first chapter Al Fatiha of the Holy Quran, Hazrat Amirul Mo’menine, Zafrullah Domun said: When we cast a glance over the speeches of Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the present day caliph of the Ahmadiyya mainstream Jamaat we see that he never stops telling all the members of the Jamaat to take heed of the teachings of the Holy Quran and to strive to become a good Muslim. With great effort it appears that his sermons are prepared in order to help the members to know what is expected of them. One cannot deny that to some extent these speeches do have some effect especially with regard to financial sacrifices. From all over the world the members of the Jamaat are conscious of the need for financial sacrifices in order to advance the cause of the Jamaat and they do contribute a lot, maa shaa Allah. On that score the Jamaat has definitely achieved something by the Grace of Allah. But as a true and sincere Ahmadi, one cannot delude oneself into believing that the Jamaat has achieved its aims just by amassing a lot of money. We all know quite well that Hazrat Masih Maoodas did not at all worry about where money will come from. He was thoroughly confident that Allah will open the people’s heart so that they may give generously for the cause of the spread of Islam. In the most-often quoted book The Will (Al Wassiyyat) he said: "These funds shall also be used to help such orphans, poor and needy people, and new converts as do not have sufficient means of livelihood. And it shall be permissible to augment these funds through trade and commerce. Do not think that these things which I have said are inconceivable. No, they are the Will of that Mighty One Who is the Lord of the earth and the heaven. I am not worried how these funds will be collected, nor do I grieve over how such a Jama‘at will be raised who, inspired by their faith, shall perform such heroic feats. Rather I am worried that, after I am gone, those who will be entrusted with these funds may not, seeing their abundance, stumble and fall in love with the world. So I pray that such honest people may always be found by the Jama‘at who work for God alone. However, it shall be lawful that those who have no means to support themselves should be given something from these funds by way of assistance."(The Will page 28)But when we examine the writings of Hazrat Masih Maoodas we see that he wanted each member of Jamaat Ahmadiyya to display good moral qualities (akhlaaqé fazila) under all circumstances in their daily lives. Besides, spending money in the way of Allah is only a means to remove from our heart the love of material wealth and hence the love of this world for the sake of Almighty Allah. Each one of us should bear this well in our mind. We should engage ourselves in the world and look after our needs and also spend in the cause of Allah. From the book of hadiths we learn that Ibn Masud ra is reported to have said: "I heard the Prophet saying, "There is no envy except in two: a person whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the right way, and a person whom Allah has given wisdom (i.e. religious knowledge) and he gives his decisions accordingly and teaches it to the others." (Bokhari Vol 2 Book 24) From this hadith we may understand that if someone has been given wealth and he spends it in the right way, he is an example that others should try to imitate. The "right way" may be understood to mean in a way that pleases Allah. Similarly such a person may be an object of envy who acquires knowledge and enlightens others with his knowledge. "Enlightening others" would mean that he explains to them those matters that they do not understand. Hence as good and practicing Muslims we should try to have wealth in order to spend it in the right way as taught to us by Allah and His Prophetsaw and we should also try to imitate those whom Allah has endowed with knowledge and use their help to understand His Religion better. What I want to say is that although there are plenty of good speeches yet we do not see that they translate into good deeds especially when it comes to purification of the heart vis à vis our dealings with others. I will speak about what I know that is happening here in Mauritius. It is well known that when the late fourth caliph Mirza Tahir Ahmad threw us out the Jamaat in 2001, he said that our end will be "fearful". Since then, as I have said before, many members of the Jamaat in Mauritius are just waiting for the caliph’s words to be fulfilled. To them what flows from the caliph’s mouth has the approbation of Allah, so to say. To them when the caliph said these words it was as if Allah had revealed them to him and they were bound to happen. But by the Grace of Allah , Our Lord stood besides us then as He is still doing today and He will incha Allah be with us and will grant us a blessed end (khatema bil khayr"). Were the ignorant Ahmadis aware of their history they would have known how many of the so called predictions of the fourth caliph did not materialize at all. Most Ahmadis are not at all aware of what happened between a businessman Ahmadi known as Zia sahib of Karachi and the fourth caliph. This gentleman Zia sahib who is still living visited Mauritius in the 1970s and he should be well known to some Ahmadis here. Were you to know how the dispute between him and the fourth caliph ended you will review what you think about the caliph. If you want to know more ask the centre. Recently an elderly Ahmadi had a conversation with my son Ismail. During the course of the conversation, among other things he told my son that he wished that I may die before my son so that he(my son) might witness what would be my end. Had this Ahmadi been aware what Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas has said about a blessed ending he would have been keener to worry what his end would be rather than wishing for an evil end for me and those who are with me. These days we have arrived at a juncture when Ahmadis are wishing ill for other Ahmadis. Do you think Allah will bless such a Jamaat which declare something good but practices what is evil? Anyhow it is quite difficult to recognize the Jamaat that Hazrat Masih Maoodas wished for when we see such behaviour. We know it from the multifarious echoes that have reached us that many within the Jamaat in Mauritius wish us evil. My humble advice to them is that they should refrain from such thoughts and they should instead cultivate the fear of Allah in their heart and worry instead about their own end. In addition I advise them to read what Hazrat Masih Maoodas has written so that they may understand what real wisdom is because most of them are not at all aware of it. They are just blind followers . As far as we were concerned we knew that we were ants fighting a mammoth. We are weak but we know that our Allah is strong. We were helpless but we knew that our Lord can give us all the help that we may be in need of. We did not have means but we knew that our Lord possessed all means. Others thought that we would drown ourselves in the sea full of sharks but Allah out of His love transformed that sea into a sea of His Boundless Love. This reminds us about how when Hazrat Ibrahimas was put into the fire Allah said " Yaa Naaro kouni bardan wa salaman ala Ibrahim". That is to say "O Fire be cool and a source of peace for Ibrahim". He said to us among others things: "You are the new orbit", "diamonds will cut diamond" and "you can swim against the current". Such were His Words then and since He has not stopped manifesting His Love and His Presence and we hope that this will go on until we meet Him incha Allah. Moreover Allah has not stopped gratifying us with words of revelations that He gratified His Messiah Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas with. Recently Allah revealed to me "Innama yoridoullaho le yuzheba ankoumour rijsa wa tahherakoum tathira yaa ahlal bait". The translation is as follows: "Surely Allah desires to remove from you all uncleanliness and purify you completely, o members of the household". The order of the words is slightly different from what we find in the Holy Quran 34:34 but the meaning is the same. Allah knows best. This is not the first time that this verse has been revealed to me. In the past also, twice or thrice I have received this message. The word rijsoun in Arabic has the following meanings "disorder, disharmony, taint, infamous action, disequilibrium, upheaval, turpitude, what spreads with violence and disturbs the natural order". When read with all these shades of meaning one will see that this verse is pregnant with a lot of meanings. Although in the time of the Holy prophet he specified who were the "ahloul bait". But as far as I am concerned I have been given to understand that in my case the "ahloul bait"( people of the household) are all those who are with us in this "dar us salaam" (the abode of peace) where Allah has protected all of us from "rijsoune" with all its meanings. Furthermore Allah has also revealed to me like He revealed to Hazrat Masih Maood as " Inni ohafezo koulla man fid daareh" which means " I shall protect every one who is in this house". By the Grace Allah I would like also to tell you here that you will remember some time back I told you that Hazrat Masih Maoodas used to pray to Allah with the following words: "Rabbe azhib annir rijsa wa tahhirni tathira". The translation is as follows: "O My Lord remove from me all sorts of impurities and purify me completely". Allow me to tell you under what circumstances he started making this prayer. Then you may have an idea of its import. Hazrat Masih Maood as says: "………when I was at Gurdaspur I saw in a dream that I was sitting on a sofa and that on the left of me was sitting Maulvi Abdullah Sahib Ghaznavi. It passed through my mind that I should push Maulvi Sahib off the sofa. I began to move slowly towards him till he got off the sofa and sat down on the ground. Thereupon three angels appeared from heaven, one of whom bore the name: Khairati. They also sat down on the ground as Maulvi Abdullah was sitting and I continued on the sofa. Then I said to all of them: I will now pray and do you say Amen to my prayer. I then supplicated (Arabic): Lord remove all uncleanness from me and purify me completely. On this the three angels and Maulvi Abdullah all said Amen. Thereafter the three angels and Maulvi Abdullah flew up to the sky and I woke up. As soon as I woke up I felt sure that Maulvi Abdullah would soon die and that special grace had been decreed for me in heavens. Thereafter I felt all the time that a heavenly power was working inside me till I began to receive revelation in a continuous succession. In that one night God, the Exalted, perfected a change in me of the kind which cannot be brought about by the hand of man or by man's volition….."(Tazkira page 49). These are the circumstances under which Hazrat Masih Maood as received this prayer. By the Grace of Almighty Allah since I read this in my youth I have been making this prayer very often. Now you can imagine why is it that Allah tells me that through all that has been happening He wished to remove the rijs from us and purify us completely. This is what Allah wants to give the members of Jamaat Ahmadiyya Al Mouslemeen who are keen to follow the essence of the Teachings of Hazrat Masih Maoodas and who do not just content themselves to being just a number in the organization. As a member of Jamaat Ahmadiyya Al Mouslemeen you have to be serious and act as an Ahmadi as has been defined by Hazrat Masih Maoodas. You should not be someone who is here just to increase the ranks. May Allah make each one of us a True Muslim in the strict sense of the word and may He enable us to do such deeds that will please Him for ever. We will end with an extract from the writings of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas . He said: "Every step that is taken in search of truth is a virtuous act that carries a great reward. However the realm of virtue and its rewards is a realm that is concealed from the eyes of the worldly. The fact is that just as God is hidden and deeply concealed despite being manifest – one of His names being al- Ghaib, the Unseen – so belief in the unseen is also something that is hidden but is made manifest through deeds. These days the condition of belief in the ‘Unseen’ is in a very weak state. If true belief in God existed, there would be a greater thirst and search for truth which is a special characteristic of such belief." (Review of Religion, April 1999 page 22.) May Allah enable each Ahmadi to learn and practice the Islam that was explained to us by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as, The Promised Messiah and Mahdi as incha Allah. |
