Jamaat Ahmadiyya al Mouslemeen
Friday Sermon of Hazrat Amirul Momeneen Zafrullah Domun
28 December 2012
At Bait-ul-Rahma Mosque
Les Guibies, Pailles
After reciting the Tashahhud, the Ta’uz and the first chapter Al Fatiha of the Holy Quran Imam Zafrullah Domun said:
Today is the last Friday of the year 2012.Another year is gone in our life. A new year will begin soon. The changing of the years mark the passage of time and nothing more. Traditionally most people who can afford it try to be merry and happy on such occasions. They eat and drink and have a good time. There is nothing bad in eating and drinking within the proper limits. As good Muslims we should see to it that we do nothing to harm others or displease our Lord. If we learn to act within these limits, we will incha Allah lead a happy life and we will meet Allah while we are in a state of submission to Him.
So the ending of a period of our life is the occasion for us to take stock of our deeds and to move forward with a determination to do even better in the future. When we look about the past year, we may ask ourselves how far we have been busy carrying out the commandments of Allah as was expected of us and how far we have fulfilled our obligations to our close ones as we should have done. One should not expect a revelation from Allah to know whether one has been doing one’s duties or not. What Allah demands from us are very clearly stated in the Holy Quran, so it is quite easy for us to know them and to practice His Commandments. Among His main commandments are that we should be regular in our prayers every day, and that we spend in His cause and that we fast during the month of Ramadan and that we should perform Hajj if we have the means to do so. Among the main things that He has forbidden us is that we should not associate anyone with Him and that we should stay away from all sorts of indecency whether in private or in public. Allah expects us to be kind with one another to maintain our family ties and that we do good to one another according to our means. Allah expects Muslims to live in peace with one another and not to fight with one another. If there are differences, Allah has shown us how to solve these differences. Allah says in the Holy Quran:
O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey His Messenger and those who are in authority among you. And if you differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger if you are believers in Allah and the Last Day. That is best and most commendable in the end. (4:60)
This verse makes it clear to one and all that amongst Muslims differences are solved through polite exchange of opinions, rather of arguments, should I say. Among Muslims differences of opinions are not solved by the use of swords because Allah has made it quite clear that “Innal Mouslemeen ikhwatoun”, that is to say “All Muslims are brothers” and it is our duty to “establish peace amongst them.” Similarly there are many other commandments of Allah that we should make ourselves aware of by studying the Holy Quran and by practicing them. So by the end of this period in time we should see to it how far we have progressed in our attempt to obey Allah and how far we have to go and devise every means at our disposal to reach near our destination as quickly as possible. Personally I think that the ending of a year and the beginning of another one brings us this message and we need to reflect upon it. May Allah help us to do so.
Members will recall that twelve years ago, exactly in the beginning of the year 2001 the fourth caliph, Mirza Tahir Ahmad expelled us from the mainstream Jamaat following a report that his amir had sent him. Without even listening to what we had to say, he severed all relationship with us. At that time, an infamous Mauritian mullah who was in London circulated a letter to his relatives in Mauritius in which he spoke ill of me and my family and spoke as if he were a mini-caliph and assured the then amir that he was there to support him against me. The then caliph vindicated his stand. At that time Allah comforted us and told us not to be afraid of these people including the caliph. So we resisted the pressures of all those who wanted us to just present our excuses and reintegrate the Jamaat. We understood there and then that Khilafat Ahmadiyya was not on the right track. Many tried to influence the members of the Jamaat against us. In their speeches they spoke lots of nonsense. At that time several times Allah had revealed to me that He “will humiliate those who tried to humiliate us” and that I needed not fear because I would be given the upper hand.
Those who know and reflect know what were the consequences of all these ill advised campaigns against us. The amir, who declared himself to be like a lion in defence of khilafat Ahmadiyya, was booted out of office by the caliph himself because of financial irregularities. The speech makers had to shut their mouths because events took place which publicly humiliated them. As far as the Mauritian mullah from London is concerned, Allah made him taste the ill consequences of what he was concocting for others. For the past twelve years a majority of the members of mainstream Jamaat Ahmadiyya Mauritius have been flouting the commandments of Allah by obeying the anti-Islamic instructions of their caliph. They felt that the caliph is above Allah and he should be obeyed even if his instructions are contrary to what Allah has said. The Jamaat exploits this stupid belief of ignorant Ahmadis. There is nothing further from the truth. Anyhow if one has eyes to see one will easily conclude that all those who tried to stand in our way have been eliminated one by one by Allah.
These days the present amir together with his missionary in charge are adamantly and zealously trying to make Ahmadis observe a social boycott against the members of Jamaat Ahmadiyya Al Mouslemeen. The Jamaat’s leadership is relentless in its campaign of making the members break their family ties. Unfortunately hate has blinded them so much that they do not see the evil consequences of their campaign. If that were not the case how can they justify that the amir has had to confess in a previous Friday sermon that domestic strife is increasing at an alarming proportion within the Jamaat. Should anyone be surprised by this. The Jamaat became the institution that promoted the breakup of families through the application of social boycott. Now it is reaping the consequences of its unislamic policies. If you think that I am exaggerating then you should know that according to your own caliph divorce rate among Ahmadis in England is around 35% and in Canada it is about 20%.What it is for Mauritius, I do not know. But those who have murdered domestic tranquility by imposing upon members to break their relationship are today wondering why there is so much domestic strife within the Jamaat. They should look around and see what has happened to the avid proponents of these policies and they should understand that it is not good to oppose Allah and to try to harm His people.
Any member of the Jamaat who obeys the amir and disobeys Allah is committing a sin for which he has to repent for or else he will have to account for it when he or she will meet Allah. Recently the caliph spoke at the European parliament. He made a speech about how to deal with extremism. In fact within mainstream Jamaat Ahmadiyya there are no other extremist than the leadership itself. They try to make the Europeans think that they are victims in Pakistan but what they hide from them is that they are themselves oppressors of their own kind. What would such a group do if tomorrow it happens to rule even one country in the world? They would be worst than the leaders that we see ruling the Muslim world today. The present day Muslim Leaders may be excused for their excesses because they have not accepted Hazrat Masih Maood as and they do not know his teachings. But Jamaat Ahmadiyya knows quite well what are the teachings of the Promised Messiah and yet they choose to ignore or distort it.
You will recall that recently I told you that the 1974 parliamentary subcommittee report has been posted on the net by an Ahmadi brother. You will also recall that it used to be said that once this report were published, almost half of Pakistan would become Ahmadis. We have yet to see that. But what we can see is that the third caliph was at a loss to explain to his audience how come there could be only one prophet after the Holy Prophet Mohammad saw. We all know that Hazrat Masih Maood as has said that prophets would continue to come till the end of the world. We all know that the second caliph said that many prophets would come. Yet against this background the third caliph insisted that the Holy prophet prophesized for only one prophet. Recently someone sent an email to the Vakil Tabshir London asking for clarifications about the declaration of the the third caliph. Would you believe that he received a five page reply justifying the stand of the third caliph and ignoring clear cut instructions of Hazrat Masih Maood as. So we ask who are those who are maintaining the teachings of the Promised Messiah, they or those who stand by what the Messiah said. It is unfortunate that the UlamÔ of Jamaat Ahmadiyya can bow in to authority even if truth is murdered. True UlamÔ are those who fear Allah and are unafraid of anyone besides Him. Hazrat Masih Maood as came to teach the Muslim world that Isa as is dead and he would not come again in this world. Jamaat Ahmadiyya mainstream, in order to justify its khilafat is killing the teachings of Hazrat Masih Maood as in order to justify its own existence. How unfortunate that within 120 years so much distortion is being promoted within the Jamaat. How sad that in order to perpetuate this khilafat, the leadership of the Jamaat are ready to murder Truth!
Let us hope and pray that within the new generation of Ahmadis we might get a new breed of scholars who would be dedicated to the pursuit of truth and who would do their best to understand and propagate the true teachings of Hazrat Masih Maoodas to the world. They would be such people who would question the received wisdom and would try to make sense of it in order to deepen their understanding. If through the process they have to walk on eggs, so let it be. It is the teachings of Hazrat Masih Maood as that will enlighten the world and not the one propagated by the caliphs of the Jamaat and its prostrate scholars.
Once, Allah helped me to understand that Khilafat Ahmadiyya as it is being practiced was not prescribed for the Jamaat by Allah. I was given to understand that it is like monasticism as practiced by the Christians. Allah did not prescribe it for them. He says in the Holy Quran:
“………But monasticism which they invented for themselves — We did not prescribe it for them — for the seeking of Allah’s pleasure; but they did not observe it with due observance.”(59:28)
In the past there have been many books depicting what goes on within monasteries. But recently the enormities of the crimes that have been going on within the church because of unmarried priests have come to light and have shocked many even among Catholics. The recent scandals within the church have shaken the Vatican to its roots .Even the pope has had to make amends and present excuses for the sins committed within the church. Mind you, this does not concern only a particular region of the world. It runs from Australia to Europe to USA, Canada and even to South America. But we will not say that the enormities of the Ahmadiyya Khilafat are of the same nature. No it is different. If there the abuse was physical, here the abuse is moral and spiritual. A caliph whom people thought was a superman has put the Jamaat on a certain footing and now everyone who comes afterward says that what he did was excellent and there are no improvements to be brought about. There is a need for a rethink of how the Jamaat should be run and whether the caliph should wield as much power as he does. The abuses stem from the fact that he appears as a demigod amongst the people and all the members feel that they have to bow to him. A time will incha Allah come when a caliph will have enough fear of Allah to make apologies for what his predecessors have done and said. He would be bold enough to acknowledge their mistakes in matters of doctrine and even in practices. Let us pray that this time may come sooner rather than later and that mainstream Jamaat Ahmadiyya comes on the straight path as it should have always been. The mainstream Jamaat will not ignore for long the many dissentient voices that are rising around the world to make it realize its gross misconduct. May Allah open our heart to truth and helps us to practice it wherever we might be. Ameen.
